Deep in the heart of London, nestled between the historic cobblestone streets of Britain’s publishing world, sits the Amicable Society of Lazy Ballerinas.
Here, there are no rules. We live for the joy of sharing exceptional and exciting wines, accompanied by great food. Your curiosity is the currency we seek, and all we ask is that you indulge.
In the curation of our dynamic wine list we’ve searched the world for wines that excite us. There’s no rule book to choosing a great wine. What you like is what you want, and we’ll always aim to give you what you want…with a little inspiration along the way. So come on in, relax and imbibe.
Whether you’ve got your heart set on an intense Malbec or a crisp and refreshing Sancerre, our sommelier will be sure to find your perfect glass (or bottle).
We’ve travelled the world in search of wines that excite us – something that is evident from a glance at our extensive and dynamic wine list. From Argentina to France, from Devon to California, from Austria to New Zealand, there is not a corner of the globe that remains undiscovered by the Lazy Ballerinas.
The team here are champions of the loveable rogue, working with boutique producers like the team at Orin Swift, whose maverick approach to wine production has us all talking about what’s next. We also offer organic and biodynamic wines, simultaneously ensuring we’re bringing you the purest possible glass of wine and investing in the future of sustainable winemaking.
Our wine list is so vast and exotic you’ll be spoiled for choice and will have no other option but to return to the Society to imbibe with us again and again. There are no rules when it comes to choosing a good wine, so whether you like it red, white, rosé or sparkling, your perfect glass awaits at The Amicable Society of Lazy Ballerinas.
Simple, quality ingredients presented beautifully. We live to keep you curious in all aspects at the Society and that’s why our food menu changes frequently. We’ll entice your taste buds beyond their wildest dreams each time you visit. From carefully selected artisan cheese & charcuterie, to our ever-evolving list of small plates, our passion for sourcing only quality ingredients can be experienced in each bite.
Hidden away, beneath the hustle and bustle of London’s Fleet Street, sit two unique private dining rooms belonging to The Amicable Society of Lazy Ballerinas. Home to the world’s first ever ‘Amicable Society’, or life insurance company, these marble-clad corridors are steeped with London’s history, and could tell a thousand stories!
Upstairs, guests can enjoy the fine wines and stunning small plates, all whilst soaking up the relaxed atmosphere in the wine bar, Lazy Ballerinas. Downstairs, whether you choose Justice or Liberality, both our exceptional private meeting and dining spaces are waiting to be explored.
The Justice Room
In the sculpture above our society entrance Lady Justice is blindfolded, making our wine cellar room the perfect space for blind tastings. It’s also ideal for a boardroom style meeting, a private dinner or a relaxed wine tasting, personalised for your colleagues or clients. The modern, dark wood panelling and stylish artwork gives way to a grand, oak table and the original wine cellar space beyond. The space can seat 18 people boardroom style.
The Liberality Room
Lady Liberality was often depicted with a cornucopia, pouring out money and fruit, so it is fitting that this room, complete with a Chef’s table, is perfect for working lunches, boardroom style meetings or social occasions. Here, you can enjoy a completely tailored food and drink experience, making the most of the state-of-the-art kitchen facilities which come with our private Chef. It’s a sumptuous experience designed for indulgence.
Where Nothing Is Too Much Trouble
Our bespoke furniture, cellar and kitchen details, and quirky artwork transform these hidden spaces into luxurious and chic meeting and event spaces. Our events team will help you seamlessly plan your next meeting or event, and should you require their expertise, our Head Sommelier and Head Chef will be on hand. At the Amicable Society, nothing is too much trouble.
